NOTE: Sorry for the lack of pictures guys... I don't know what's wrong with my file, computer, or internet. Or maybe with the three of them. Every time I upload the picture, it becomes extremely distorted to the point that you totally couldn't identify what it is, but it appears normally in my computer. I'm sorry. Once I get down to the problem, I'll post the drawings. For now, this upload is for my English task. Well, enjoy I guess. Hope you readers can understand, even without the pictures.

So hey guys! In the previous post I've given a tutorial on how to draw a face base, but we're not done yet. If you're reading this now but you haven't seen the previous post, go see it. This post is a continuation of it.

So now we're getting to the part everyone likes. Drawing the eyes, nose, and mouth!! Well, not exactly drawing them yet. The elements of the face has many, many variations, each taking up an entire tutorial on its own. What we're learning now is the basic placement of the eyes, nose, and mouth on a mainstream manga style drawing :D

...As for the ears, neck, and hair, we can get to that later. I don't want to make the post too long. So either way, let's get on with the tutorial XDDD

So surely, if you have read the previous post (if you still haven't read it by this point, go read it now, GO) you'll still remember this picture

[pic]

And if you followed the next simple steps in the previous post already it should already look like this

[pic]

Now, let's get to the main part. Look at the circle. There is a vertical line dividing the circle into two parts, no? Let's n`me the left Area 1 and the right Area 2. Now, what you have to do, is with lines as thin as possible, try cut Area 1 and 2 precisely in half, vertically. That's where you'll draw the eyes. the upper eyelid is located exactly above the horizontal line which cuts the circle in the middle. It should look a little something like this:

[pic]

Then, you may draw the nose, which is located right on the border of the lower half of the circle, right where the horizontal and main vertical line intersect.

As for the mouth, draw another thin-as-possible line cutting the area below the circle. Then draw a tiny horizontal slightly curvy line for the mouth. The length is from the vertical cutting Area 1 to the one cutting Area 2. Now the drawing should look like this:

[pic]

That's all I guess. Now you've made a basic face!! Doesn't matter if it looks bad, remember guys, practice makes perfect!! :D For now, adios~

STARTING TO DRAW: THE FACE BASE part I

So here’s the third post, everybody!
Here, we’re gonna start on the very first page of drawing manga – MAINSTREAM STYLE~ (For manga styles, read the last post, I explained the two basic ones there)

Oh and THIS, I will do in Paint. Yes, the Paint program everyone has. Just because I can, and it's clearer than the scanner.

First, we’ll start with the head, like everyone else does. Though it’s just a head, I’ll tell you this- the head really, really defines the body shape, so it’s actually pretty important. Very. But since we’re still starting from zero, we’ll go from the mainstream manga shape of the head- the easiest.

Oh and note: This post explains about drawing the base of the head. The base consists of a circle, a horizontal line, a vertical line, and an outline (the outline I will explain in the next post). Sound confusing? Read on and you'll understand. So, anything other than what I mentioned is not a part of the base, mmkay?

First, you draw the infamous circle everyone uses to draw heads to start. Make it as round as possible, and VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:

·         DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT PRESS TOO HARD WHEN DRAWING THE LINES. You’d have to erase them later, and if the lines are thick, you’re gonna have a bad time. So draw them in thin, thin lines. MINE WILL BE THICK for the sake of clarity, BUT DO NOT FOLLOW IT, draw THIN LINES, THIN LINES!!
·         even if you can’t make a perfect enough circle in one go, it’s better to make random strokes until it’s circle enough, cause admit it, 99.99999% of the human population isn't pro enough to draw a perfect circle. Trying to do so will waste time. Some people actually do that. I’m serious.

AAAND afterwards, draw a vertical and horizontal line, cutting the circle into 4 EQUAL parts. (Hey, it looks like pie! :D) The vertical line should cross the circle’s border on the bottom, and its length is about the same as the radius of the circle. Then, enclose everything, including the outer lines in a box! (which will be drawn in grey in case my explanation's so unclear, you don't understand a single word I'm saying ==")

Then we draw the outline! :D And for those having trouble with the symmetry, you can draw a V-like line… it starts from the point where the vertical line intersects the rectangle, and out to the outermost part of the circle.

That’s the base. After you’re done with the outline, you can erase the rectangle, since it’s only an aid to determine the size of the face. You can also erase the V lines since it's only an aid for the outline, so if your outline is done, erase the V lines. BUT NOT THE BASE. DO NOT ERASE THE BASE JUST YET. We'll still use it to determine the placement of the eyes, nose, ears, and whatnot.

So is it awesome or what?! XDDDDDDD

THERE YOU GO. Now for what you are waiting for, the placement of the eyes and whatnot!

…But since this post is getting kinda long, and I don’t want your eyes and brain to get bored, I’ll post it separately. For now, adios~!!

*EDIT!!! : GAIZ, I JUST REALIZED THAT THE PICTURE IS STRETCHED HORIZONTALLY. LIKE. WHOA. I forgot that the display in my PC is so messed up, everything seems more horizontally stretched then usual. Aaa. And I can't fix it yet due to the problem (read the 3 November post) I still have and haven't solved. ;_; I'll get to that ASAP XDDD

SO DID YOU KNOW (I)

Another post guys. I promise, the next post will have be a tutorial... With drawings!! XD

So this one here is something all you artists should know. Especially for starters. I don't believe that any of you don't have knowledge about these things, but just in case, I present you... The OC and OTC. ALL of you would stumble upon this one day anyways even if you didn't know about it, whether you are a Mangaka, Cartoonist, et cetera.

THE OC

OC is short for Original Character. An Original Character is a Character you made completely by yourself, using your heart and brain. And hands. XD You decide their name, their race (Caucasian? Asian? Mongoloid? Amerindian?), type (Human? Demon? Centaur? Angel?), clothes, personality, background, et cetera.

It is different from Fanart. Fanart is someone else's OC which you drew, just because you like them that much. -_-

THE OTC

Now, the OTC is short of One True Character. *beams a huge smile* an OCT is an OC, but it's special...
An OTC is a character which you draw to represent yourself. It doesn't need to have the same name, gender, type, et cetera.

FOOOOOOOOOR EXAMPLE. Heck, your name can be Daniel (no offense to all Daniels out there) and you might be an American making an OCT named Vierra (...obviously a female) who is a fallen Archangel who used to be a European dude, and who now resides in the depths of hell. -shudders-

So basically, an OTC is how you would like to see or picture yourself. IT'S ALL FROM FAN-TA-SY~ But like how you can make your OTC ENTIRELY different from who or WHAT you actually are, you are, of course, completely allowed to make your OTC with the same appearance and name as yours. Then again, it's up to you.

...But of course. Because it represents yourself, it would have to possess the same personality traits. XD

That's all about the OC and the OTC. I hope it helped. Even though you can't draw yet, you can make them up in your head and draw them later, just like what I did back then. UNLEASH YOUR IMAGINATION, guys, set free the art!! Thanks for reading, and seeya! :D

The two most common (and popular) basic Styles of Manga

Nope, I ain't gonna post any drawings or tutorials yet. Sorry. And yes, consider this a filler until I know when will my teacher set the deadline for my English project (in case you didn't read my short little description, this little blog here is for my English project, tee hee) THEN I shall post and share the real deal of my awesomeness. Yeah.

So this post is about the 2 MOST COMMON STYLES OF MANGA. There are many kinds in this world now, 2 of which I will show and explain here. For future notes, I named a few styles for my own convenience as well as yours... Because if you'll stick with this blog you'll also be seeing my tutorials all written with my own words and language. So if you find these styles under another name somewhere else, well... Domo sumimasen (I'm very sorry), I warned you.

THE FIRST AND MOST COMMON IN THIS WORLD is something I'd like to call Mainstream Manga. It is widely used and is the most popular style of manga. This style features Manga characters having big, glassy cute eyes, a thin neck, a small body... Well, overall, the very cute type of manga you see every day. THIS is an example of a Mainstream Manga style:

MAIN FEATURES:
*Kinda big head for a small body
*Big, big shiny eyes
*Thin eyebrows. Check them out. Almost always thin one-line eyebrows.
*Really cute tiny unrealistic mouth.
*...no human ears aren't shown here, but they are also simple
*Thin, small neck.
*Dot or coma-like nose. Seriously, that's how they draw it.

The next one is... CHIBI!!! People say that it's the cutest sytle. Ever. You Japan fans must know this. It has the same features the Mainstream Manga style has, but even cuter, and everything's much tinier save for the eyes and head. People say that this style is the easiest to draw, but personally, I don't like it and find it a little difficult. THIS is an example of a CHIBI style:

MAIN FEATURES:
*BIGGER HEAD. Much, much bigger head.
*TINY, TINY BODY
*BIGGER, MUCH BIGGER EYES
*SMALLER, MUCH SMALLER mouth
*SMALLER, barely visible nose
*And note that in Chibi everything looks simpler, including the HAIR
*In the Heads Scale (a measurement I use to measure my character's heights, I shall explain in a later post), it is usually 2 heads tall
*Tiny hands and legs as well. fingers are short like a child's.
*And don't forget, much cuter appearance.

...That is all. Actually, I just ripped these pictures off from Google, so if someone (or the owner) stumbles on this site well tell me and I'll ask proper permission T.T

I shall come back with more awesomeness... Lord knows when. With a little more explanation first, drawings later. My tutorials will have tons of writing. PREPARE... And enjoy :P

The Origin of Manga- a short Intro

As almost everyone out there knows, Manga is a style of art which originates from Japan, Asia. According to records, manga was created around the 17th till the 18th century, and is believed to be created by a Japanese man who referred to himself as Hokusai.

Even though it was created way back, the entire Japan first knew manga around the 20th century, when the style of art gained sudden popularity among the people, spreading and perfecting itself to form the manga we all know today. There are specific manga for adults and children though, and the manga drawn specially for children appeared around the 1970s.

Japanese manga is basically the Japanese version of comics, and are written by 'Mangaka' or the Japanese word for manga authors. Mangakas first published their art in 'zasshi' or magazines, but then quickly moved on to 'tankobon', or as a story in a book.

That is all~ Thank you for reading.
